Posted by The ride along the Felbertauern Road to the eastern tip of Tyrol is not only worthwhile during the East Tyrolean Bike Week. The region around the sunny town of Lienz is also worth a motorcycle vacation in other respects, because no matter which direction you head off in – you will always get a great tour. Nestled between the Dolomites, Carinthia and Salzburger Land, there are fantastic tour options to choose from.
Pustertal High Road
Just a few kilometers after Lienz, it’s “turn right” and one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in Austria awaits with the Pustertaler Höhenstraße. The mountain delight is around 32 kilometers long and reaches an altitude of almost 1,500 meters. You can take an hour to soak up the atmosphere.
For a half-day tour, we recommend continuing on to Italy, i.e. South Tyrol. Passing the Pragser Wildsee lake, the Staller Sattel with its 2,052 meters is calling a little later and leads the enthusiastic touring biker from the Italian Antholz Valley into the Defereggen Valley, and thus back to East Tyrol.

Bike athlon, biathlon shooting and hut magic
It goes without saying that the Pustertaler Höhenstraße and the Staller Sattel are also included in the tour program of the “East Tyrolean Bike Week”. It also goes without saying that there will be more brilliant bends and hairpin bends on a Carinthia tour, a Dolomites tour and a surprise tour. But there is no shortage of other fun at the event either, as the bike athlon with motorcycle course and biathlon shooting, as well as the hearty hut evening, are sure to create even more good vibes – especially as the motorcycle is already sleeping in the hotel garage during the hut fun and bikers with a thirst for beer are being shuttled.
Ready for the power lap?
Almost 400 Alpine kilometers await the mountain fan when the bike is steered north and after the Felbertauern road the ride leads towards the Gerlos Pass. You pass Neukirchen, which provides a great biker atmosphere once a year with its “Club of Newchurch“.
The Gerlos Pass and the Zillertaler Höhenstraße now make for some nice bends, and you almost forget to stop at the Krimml Waterfalls in time to appreciate the gigantic natural spectacle, thrilled by your own flow.
From Kitz to the Spitz
The The celebrity factor in Kitzbühel, which follows the Brixental valley, is not nearly as exciting as the Queen of the Alpine Roads, which after a lively approach over the Pass Thurn, which is not long in coming. is not long in coming.
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road shines with fantastic views of the world of the 3,000-metre peaks and makes the ride through the masterfully designed 36 hairpin bends an absolute motorcycling pleasure. The highest point is the Edelweißspitze at just over 2,500 meters, which is of course also a popular meeting point for bikers.
The winding downhill slalom from the Glockner also knows how to inspire and leads directly to the starting point of the route, to Lienz.
