A beautiful motorcycle tour from the Neckar valley towards the Swabian Forest. The route is a mix of medium and small roads. The destination of the tour is the forest lake in Fornsbach near Murrhardt. There you can not only take a dip in the cold water but also enjoy first-class gastronomy in the Kulinarium.
The tour starts at the Stumpenhof in Plochingen in the Neckar valley, east of Stuttgart. From there, we set off across the Schurwald forest towards Schorndorf. Right at the start of the tour, a beautiful forest road leads us from Baltmansweiler to Baach. The first bends are here for those who love bends. Immediately afterwards, the route continues to Manolzweiler. In the direction of Manolzweiler, a beautiful climb with very tight bends leads through the vineyards. The Manolzweiler Steige is one of my favorites in the Schurwald and should not be missed on any tour in this area.

Through the Rems valley to Rudersberg
After that, we head through the Rems valley towards Rudersberg. We turn off onto a beautiful shortcut towards Rudersberg. We follow the beautiful little path down into the valley and are rewarded with a lovely little bench and a great view over the valley. We simply had to stop here and enjoy the view.
A highlight of the tour and the reason why we drove towards Rudersbgerg is the K 1883. Curves par excellence, it almost doesn’t get any better than this, perfect surface, great curve angles, this makes driving fun. We bypass Althütte via a small side road with a fantastic view over the valley towards Althütte, thank you Kurviger for this suggestion. Then we are already in the small village of Ebni. Just a few meters away is the popular bikers’ meeting point at Ebnisee.

Stopover at the forest lake
A few kilometers later, we reach the Waldsee and the Kulinarium (formerly known as Café Erdbeer). The Kulinarium is one of our favorite stops in the Swabian Forest. If we can manage it, we try to come for lunch during the week. In summer, you can also cool off in the forest lake before continuing on.
After a well-earned refreshment, we get our bikes ready and set off on the return journey. This runs east of Welzheim along small side roads. Among other things, we pass the Hagerwaldsee and Leinecksee lakes. The former is a lovely swimming lake, the latter unfortunately not. On the way back, we have to cross the Rems valley again, this time at Lorch. The climb to Lorch, at Lorch Monastery, is an absolute recommendation, ideal long curves for my R1100S. Shortly before the end of the tour, we come to another similar climb, from Schorndorf in the direction of Schlichten. A beautifully developed road with great bends and the best road surface. A great end to a beautiful tour.
