Carinthia is one of the most popular motorcycling regions in Austria and is located in the tri-border region of Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Popular destinations in Carinthia include the panoramic roads: the Nockalm Road, the Malta High Alpine Road, the Goldeck panoramic road, the Villach Alpine Road and the Großglockner High Alpine Road.
During your motorcycle vacation in Carinthia, a three-country tour is a must. We recommend a visit to the Mangartstraße. This is a spur road that branches off from the Predil Pass.
A highlight is the Nockalmstraße, a 34-kilometre route with 52 hairpin bends that leads through the gentle peaks of the Nockberge mountains. This panoramic road combines technical challenges with breathtaking landscapes and is particularly popular with motorcyclists.
Carinthia is also known for its numerous lakes, including Lake Wörthersee, Lake Faaker See and Lake Ossiacher See. These bodies of water offer perfect resting places for motorcyclists who want to take a break and enjoy the regional cuisine. Lake Faak is also the venue for the European Bike Week, one of the biggest motorcycle events in Europe. Every year, thousands of bikers flock to Carinthia to be part of this unique gathering.
The region is historically interesting because of the historic Roman road, the Via Julia Augusta, which ran through Carinthia and still leaves traces in the landscape today. Hochosterwitz Castle, one of the most imposing medieval castles in Europe, is also a popular destination for motorcycle tours.
