The Ederbergland is an area in the north of Hesse, which follows the middle course of the River Eder and includes the foothills of the Rothaargebirge in the north. With steep hilltops and gentle hills to the flat Eder valley, this rural region offers motorcyclists everything they could wish for: high roads with tight bends, fast passages in between and plenty of nature, without the narrowness of the conurbations in the northwest.
One of the most popular routes leads along the Edersee, one of Germany’s largest reservoirs. With numerous viewpoints and rest areas, this route is ideal for riders who want to combine riding fun with short breaks in nature. The Edersee dam in particular is an impressive stop-off point that will fascinate technology and history buffs alike.
The region also has historical and cultural sights to offer. The old town of Frankenberg is known for its well-preserved half-timbered houses and the historic town hall with its ten towers. Motorcyclists can take a break here and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Also worth a visit is Waldeck Castle, which offers impressive views over Lake Edersee.
For those who want to stay longer, there are numerous motorcycle-friendly accommodations in the region. Many offer secure parking facilities and special services for bikers. The Ederbergland thus combines an ideal mix of riding fun, nature experience and culture that attracts motorcyclists from all over Germany.
