The Ore Mountains, located on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic, are known for their winding roads and breathtaking views. The region offers a variety of routes that are suitable for both leisurely tours and demanding riders. The serpentine roads that lead through dense forests and along picturesque mountain slopes are particularly popular.
Historically, the Ore Mountains are not only known for their mining history, but also for motorsport events. The “Augustusburg”, a Renaissance castle near Chemnitz, is home to one of the largest motorcycle museums in Europe. Here, visitors can marvel at classic motorcycles, including models from DKW, MZ and Simson, which are deeply connected to Saxony’s industrial history.
Another highlight for motorcyclists is the annual Erzgebirgsfahrt, a classic car event that showcases historic motorcycles and cars on the region’s roads. For off-road fans, the area also offers special routes and enduro events.
The Ore Mountains also offer links to famous routes such as the “Silver Road”, which passes through historic mining towns. With its varied landscapes, well-preserved roads and cultural highlights, the region is a must for every motorcycle enthusiast.
