The Rhön is located in the border triangle of Thuringia, Bavaria and Hesse. The Rhön borders the motorcycling regions of Spessart and Vogelsberg.
The Rhön is a popular destination for motorcyclists thanks to its winding roads, picturesque views and rich history. This low mountain range in the heart of Germany stretches across Hesse, Bavaria and Thuringia. With altitudes of up to 950 meters, the Rhön offers varied riding experiences – from gentle curves to challenging serpentines.
A highlight for bikers is the Hochrhönstraße. This panoramic road offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including the Wasserkuppe, the highest peak in the Rhön and a historic site for aviation enthusiasts. Motorcyclists often meet at the summit to take a break and enjoy the view.
The Rhön also has historical sights along its roads. During the Cold War, the “Iron Curtain” ran here. Today, motorcyclists can explore routes along the former border and visit memorials and museums such as Point Alpha, which offer insights into the history of the region.
The Rhön is also a magnet for group tours and events. Motorcycle meetings are held regularly, especially in towns such as Bischofsheim and Fulda. There are also special routes for bikers, with local inns and cafés offering motorcycle-friendly accommodation.
