The Vogelsberg is located northeast of Frankfurt and is Europe’s largest extinct volcano. The Vogelsberg borders on the motorcycle regions of Spessart and Rhön and is located in Hesse. Motorcycling has a long tradition in the Vogelsberg region, and the Schottenring, which was one of the oldest race tracks in Germany, is well known. The Vogelsberg region is particularly attractive because of its great curves and beautiful views. In addition, medieval half-timbered towns invite you to make short or longer stops.
The region offers numerous vantage points from which you can enjoy the impressive natural scenery. The Hoherodskopf, the second highest peak of the Vogelsberg, is a highlight for motorcyclists. Parking lots, cafés and a magnificent view invite you to linger.
Motorcyclists interested in history can visit Herzberg Castle, one of the largest hilltop castles in Germany, which regularly hosts medieval events. Another highlight is the historic town of Schotten with its motorcycle museum, which presents a wide collection of classics and racing bikes.
Numerous inns and guest houses in the region welcome motorcyclists. Many accommodations even offer special services such as secure motorcycle parking and drying rooms. Bikers’ meetings and events that regularly take place in the Vogelsberg also attract bikers from all over Germany.
