Located in the southwest of Switzerland, the canton of Valais lies at the heart of the Swiss Alps and is a mecca for motorcyclists who love tight bends and incredible mountain panoramas. The level of the mountain peaks is well over 4000m, yet the lowest point of the canton is only 372m above sea level on Lake Geneva.
The differences in altitude that can be overcome here by motorcycle are correspondingly large. If you want to tour here, you should check your brakes first. The hairpin bends do not forgive worn brake pads or riding errors. Over 20 routes lead higher than 2000m, over 40 attractive destinations in total will bring tears to the eyes of every motorcyclist. The highest pass is the Col du Grand Saint-Bernard at 2467m, which connects Martigny with Aosta. Both German and French are spoken in Valais.
